Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 4
Today I’d like to share with you Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 4. After he finished it, he gave it the title “Tragic.” Schubert became one of my favorite composers later in my life. I find an incredible emotional depth in his music, which is full of pain and sorrow.
This music could not have been written by a happy person – and he was not (I wrote about Schubert’s life here). His life was tragic (just like this symphony) and we, the listeners, are the primary beneficiaries of the suffering that he poured into creativity and this remarkable work.
